SharePoint 2010 launched
With the launch of SharePoint 2010 and Office 2010 we are on
the verge of the next generation of integrated business process
and collaboration - Business Productivity Implementation with many
of the rich features and integrations we could only dream about
only five years ago.
BC is focused on solving the complex business process integration
and collaboration requirements of the enterprise utilising Microsoft's
SharePoint, .NET, SQL and BizTalk products and technologies. SharePoint
2010 adds a new dimension to rapid deployment of complex business
solutions.
For example, currently we are working on behalf of a Primary IT
services provider to deliver a major new SharePoint 2010 install
with multifaceted integration requirements providing the team with
a great challenge.
One of the large London Borough metropolitan local government bodies
has opted to undertake the creation of a new public Intranet site
in SharePoint 2010. This is a pioneering project that includes full
integration with the GIS (Graphical Information System) and CRM
(Customer Relationship Management) systems.
The residents and businesses of the borough will be able to search
for businesses, schools and other organisations in the borough and
well as gain access to council tax, business rate, and social services
facilities, including making requests and payments. The site will
be fully content editable.
Going live this summer, the site will most likely be the first
SharePoint 2010 public sector Internet site to be deployed in the
UK in the UK. Ballard Chalmers have been appointed to carry out
the SharePoint development for the site including providing the
authentication, GIs and CRM integration layers.
A key feature of SharePoint 2010 is known as SharePoint Composites.
SharePoint 2010 Composites provides building blocks that you can
use to assemble, connect, and configure collaborative business solutions.
From simple sites to complex applications, you can rapidly respond
to specific business needs with custom solutions.
With SharePoint 2010 Composites, you can work with data from other
systems as if it were actually in SharePoint. Create, read, update,
delete, and search the data right from SharePoint. Work with it
online in a browser or in Microsoft Office. And if you can't get
connected you can use Microsoft SharePoint Workspace to work offline
and synchronise your changes when you reconnect.
SharePoint 2010 Composites helps you centralise and manage business
solutions so that your people can get their jobs done and you can
save time and effort. For example, you can centralise SQL (or Access)
databases and Excel workbooks and deploy them from SharePoint and
provide controlled access to company data.
You don't even necessarily need to be a programmer to use the building
blocks in SharePoint 2010. Even without code, you can create highly
customised sites and solutions. Use Microsoft SharePoint Designer
and Microsoft InfoPath to design solutions based on workflows and
forms.
