Ballard Chalmers project wins and news

Ballard Chalmers concentrates on delivering services around the Microsoft Application Platform, particularly .NET/Azure, SQL Server, SharePoint Server and BizTalk Server. Our services include system design, development and support, consultancy, mentoring and training, plus resourcing for our longer term consultancy engagements.

This year we have extended our delivery of long-term onsite engagements, including a SQL Consultant at London Metal Exchange and a Team Foundation Server Consultant at Transport for London. Recently we have also engaged with Prodata Consult in Denmark to provide a .NET Consultant on a long-term contract for one of their clients in the banking sector.

Our focus on systems development, support and consultancy remains as strong as ever. Currently we have a major Cloud system continuing in development for IPES, which we reported on more extensively in January, as well as online system development for QVH NHS Primary Care Trust. We have also been working for the last few months with Dimension Data on one of their major SharePoint 2010 client project implementations.

A notable recent development has been an increase in clients approaching us for the outsourcing of Support services. Replacing permanent support staff with outsourced services offers valuable time and cost savings to clients who are under budget pressure, particularly for SQL Server and for SharePoint Server support. We are providing this service for a wide variety of clients and partners, and have seen particular interest from the Education sector.

Another area of increased activity is our pure Consultancy and ‘health-check’ services for SharePoint and SQL Server, which we have delivered for a number of satisfied clients in recent months.

On the training side, Canterbury Christ Church University has scheduled SQL Server training to be delivered on-site by one of our expert SQL consultants, to enable their key database technical staff to upgrade to SQL Server 2008 R2.
